A Little Burpee History Lesson
Whether you are an exercise enthusiast or workout novice you have probably been introduced to the dreadful burpee. It is an intense movement involving a squat, squat thrust, and a jump. In some cases, you can also add a push up. It is excruciating!
Believe or not the burpee was not born from evil! The folks at Greatist provide an interesting lesson on burpee history. Burpees were invented in 1939 by Burpee Dluginski, a physiologist and fitness fanatic. His version was a bit less intense and involved a series of movements to be performed no more than four times in a row. Crossfit and circuit trainers beware.
